It all began with and idea...

Our space was the home to Hansen's lamp and shade since 1937, and was the perfect fit and location for our motif and feel. Our style and décor follows a nostalgic feel conjuring up images of decades past with eclectic mixed matched wares, antique furniture and unobtrusive lounge music. For those that need a place to work during the day, free Wi-Fi is available. In The Red is also a family-friendly place to bring the little ones with a kids menu, coloring books and crayons, and reasonable prices for families on a budget.

The evolution of In The Red came about from several factors, including the languid economy, job layoffs, and a desire to break off from the corporate treadmill. When Co-owner Chad first mentioned to his wife he was thinking about opening up a restaurant, she said, "why don't you call it In The Red, because that's where we are going to be"...and eureka, the name was born, double entendre and all! With the current trend of shi shi, slick wine bars offering wines by the glass reaching $20 and up, we decided there needed to be a more approachable wine concept. With the top end of the wine industry reeling, good tasting wines can be purchased at very reasonable prices, and In The Red plans on continuing this trend by offering $5 glasses of wine. The food menu follows this concept with small plates and bites in the $5 to $8 range, including vegan offerings. We have a dedication to purchase local and organic/ sustainable goods as we believe in supporting our neighbors as much as possible.
