My friend and stumbled upon this new wine bar last week. We had some great wines, and an amazing cheese plate to share. The atmosphere is laid back without loud music so you can actually talk to each other (would be a great place for a first date). The prices were great and I can’t wait to go back and try all the wines and bites.

Mismatched plates, glasses and chandeliers add to the casual neighborhood feel of this Phinney wine bar. While the wine selection isn’t exhaustive, each one has been chosen with purpose. Half the fun is pairing wines with the Italian-inspired menu, and the other half is chatting with the staff: The owner will stop by to say hi, and by the end of the first drink, the bartender treats you like an old friend. Wines by the glass are $5-$8 and food is in the same price range, though the best deal is three half portions of any of the sandwiches or salads plus a bowl of fresh fruit for $8. Cheap prices, excellent food and tons of character should keep this wine bar in the black.
Value is out of this world. Seriously, superb wine and coziness = gemutlichkeit of the rarest kind. Seattle has all kind of high end wine bars that I cannot afford, "cool" but snobbish hang outs, and then there are the bars with no real food, and then places who just seem out of touch; no one local around.
#1. The proprietors and staff here are the real deal. They are present all the time. They take the guesswork out of choosing your wine, why? Because they tasted all of it themselves and will not sell you something they would not drink. #2. What do we really want but wine and a snack right? They got you covered, the menu is simple but covering all the bases, I was impressed with the vegetarian options, hallelujah. #3 Extended value: We're bringing our friends and family into the new private dining area. Value; they got it covered.
It is the coziest place to go for a glass of wine and a snack on a rainy afternoon. There's comfy seating, a fireplace, fantastic prices... I recently described it as my living room, but better.
Their cream of mushroom soup is phenomenal. I'm not usually a fan (memories of the soup in a can used for green bean casserole), but a friend ordered it and it was one of the best soups I've ever had... fresh seasonal mushrooms, perfect consistency, and just the right size serving.
